Pictou Island Pilgrimage.
Four days with ROBIn thompson
august 10-14, 2025
Just 3 tents left
From the moment you step onto the ferry and depart for Pictou Island, the simplicity of an off grid experience begins to come into focus. Leave your cares and concerns behind and escape the complexities of the mainland existence to enjoy a four night / five day yoga pilgrimage in a perfect spot for personal growth and exploration.
A Pilgrimage is that which takes you away from your own land or home, a reinvigorating journey which often leads to a personal transformation, after which the pilgrim returns to their daily life. Join Robin in August when she will lead you, individually and as a group, on a Pictou Island Pilgrimage that doesn’t even require leaving the country. (Although, some would say Pictou Island is another country.)
Enjoy the opportunity to walk the footpaths of the past, on an island that remains a remnant of a time before. Clean air, natural beaches, and at night a darkness you may never experience elsewhere. Robin will lead you on your way (maybe barefoot?!) to specially selected locales on the island, facing each of the four directions, east, west, north, and south, for twice daily yoga practices and meditations.
Experience the sun and the moon, and all the animals that choose to cross our paths or fly overhead along the way. Take off on your cruiser bicycle to visit the highlights that make the island shine, from sandy beaches and rocky coastlines, to open meadows, and dirt paths. Roads that wind through the trees of the forests, with reminders of days gone by. Nature at its finest and fullest, in its purest form.

Robin Thompson- Yoga Instructor
With nearly 1,000 hours of yoga training under her belt, Robin Thompson always looks forward to sharing what she has come to understand about the physical body, alignment, and traditions of yoga with those who attend her classes. Having grown up in the temperate rainforest of the West Coast of Canada, and traveled across the world a few times, Robin is truly excited to offer her inaugural Wooden Tents retreat so close to home, but so far away in many, many ways.
Robin is a yoga instructor and part owner at the award winning On The Mat studio in Halifax, NS, and has been leading sold out local and international yoga retreats since 2016. After moving to Nova Scotia in 2005, Robin began a yoga journey which by 2011/12 led to her completing a 200hr YTT in Halifax, and then her 300hr YTT in 2018 in India.
She has gone on to take hundreds of hours of workshops over the years and teaches all different styles of yoga. While she loves the spark of adventure, she still appreciates the sense of being grounded that she gets from yoga. She looks forward to sharing this inaugural Pictou Island retreat with you.
