Jill first experienced Pictou Island at a yoga retreat three years ago. She returned the next year with her 14 year old daughter in tow, and last year led her own retreat - to her daughter’s delight. Having experienced two other leaders gave Jill plenty of insight and her mantra of “meeting everyone where they are” ensures her retreats are wonderfully inclusive events that everyone enjoys. This year her retreat includes catered food!

Days will begin with an invigorating yoga practice designed to slowly awaken the body and centre the mind , book-ended and balanced with early evening restorative and yin classes to prepare for your evening’s slumber in a cozy wooden tent. During her first two visits, Jill scouted out many beautiful practice locations — next to the ocean, in the vibrant vineyard, even on the fishing wharf when there’s no one around! In a pinch, if the weather takes a turn, everyone can move inside for a session in our beautiful new yoga studio looking out across the ocean.

In between you’ll be free to spend time soaking up the sun and exploring the island’s beaches, shoreline, and rustic charm on foot or by bicycle. Of course Jill will be breaking things up with sessions of chi gong, pranayama, and mindfulness meditation designed to bring balance into your life.

Jill thoroughly enjoys guiding both advanced yogis and complete beginners and looks forward to introducing the power of balance to your regular practice. A take-home chi gong practice guide with detailed instructions will be available to those interested.

Jill Legge - Yoga Instructor, Osteopath

Jill Legge recalls leaving her first yoga class 28 years ago completely hooked. A feeling of calm and intrigue lingered, sparking an interest that within ten years had her training to be a yoga teacher while working as a registered massage therapist in her hometown of Truro. From there she added training in osteopathic manual therapy and now she combines her knowledge and passion for the human body with natural approaches to health to complement her yoga teaching style. That style being a fusion, drawn from her training in Ashtanga, Iyangar and yin yoga, that creates a practice to suit any level of yogi. Jill truly enjoys helping people on their path to healing and wellness at Legge Health Clinic, a multidisciplinary holistic health centre in the heart of Truro where she also leads hot yoga classes.
When not at the clinic, Jill enjoys back-country camping and hiking adventures with her daughter, Bridget, engaging in hobbies like paddle boarding and hiking with good friends, and learning natural horsemanship with her young gelding “Deuce”. Jill is thrilled to lead her second yoga retreat with us and to be returning to Pictou Island, a place she holds dear to her heart. She sees the addition of delicious and nutritious catered meals as simply an added bonus.
