Power of Balance
4 days with Jill Legge
June 30 to July 04, 2024
Jill first experienced Pictou Island at a yoga retreat two years ago. She returned last year with her 14 year old daughter in tow, and this year is leading her own retreat - to her daughter’s delight. Having experienced two other leaders gave Jill plenty of insight and her mantra of “meeting everyone where they are” sets this up to be a wonderfully inclusive event that everyone will enjoy.
Days will begin with an invigorating yoga practice designed to slowly awaken the body and centre the mind , book-ended and balanced with early evening restorative and yin classes to prepare for your evenings slumber in a cozy wooden tent. During her first two visits, Jill scouted out many beautiful practice locations — next to the ocean, in the vibrant vineyard, even on the fishing wharf when there’s no one around! In a pinch, if the weather takes a turn, everyone can move inside for a session in our beautiful new yoga studio looking out across the ocean.
In between you’ll be free to spend time soaking up the sun and exploring the island’s beaches, shoreline, and rustic charm on foot or by bicycle. Of course Jill will be breaking things up with sessions of chi gong, pranayama, and mindfulness meditation designed to bring balance into your life.
Jill thoroughly enjoys guiding both advanced yogis and complete beginners and looks forward to introducing the power of balance to your regular practice. A take-home chi gong practice guide with detailed instructions will be available to those interested.

25 years ago Jill Legge stumbled into her first yoga class on Quinpool Road in Halifax and was hooked. Ten years later, while working as a massage therapist, she trained as a yoga teacher in her hometown of Truro, and recently she completed her studies at the Canadian College of Osteopathy. Throughout she continued her study of yoga styles from Ashtanga to Yin, even getting to study Iyengar under Father Joe Perrera. Jill lives and works in Truro with her husband at Legge Health Clinic, their multidisciplinary holistic health centre. While not treating clients, Jill can be found in the clinic’s lofty attic leading infrared heated yoga. Her osteopathic mind-set while teaching yoga helps her aid and assist her fellow yogis as they move through their practice. She loves being part of their progression! Her hobbies include hiking, paddle boarding, and learning natural horsemanship with her young gelding “Deuce”.
